Welcome
The resume of Paul Knibbs, a freelance contractor based in Sydney.
I speak with companies who find themselves with these problems.
1. You need a job done but don't want to employ someone to do it
2. You need a job done but don't want to have to pay a contractor for at
least 3 months
3. You get fed up with systems integrators sending a different person every
time.
4. Your concerned that your intellectual knowledge walks out the door with the
last employee/contractor/systems integrator.
I have just been working on two mail servers creating
MailScanner solutions for
Unbuntu with the graphical front-end from Baruwa. It had its moments with the
ubuntu packaging systems, but we got there in the end. If you have problems with
MailScanner, clamav, spamassassin, postfix etc, please get in touch. So often
with Linux people can get stuck trying to get everything to work together.
I actually worked on these machines remotely because they are vmware Vsphere 4
guest machines, then I zipped them up and sftp'd them over to the customers
machines, and voila, they worked first time. You have got to love vmware and
vsphere.
If you need some help, please get in touch. With me, what you see is what you
get. I have long-standing relationships with companies and I work to make sure
that I am always the one who turns up, and that your intellectual property is
transfered to you.
I am a freelance contractor avaliable for work in networks, unix, databases etc
for short or medium term assignments. I have a wide range
of IT skills
and I will list some of the projects I have done, on the side menu for you to
take a look.
If your business is looking for a contractor with a bit more experience who can
be adaptable in today's climate then maybe I can help. I am not about putting
ticks in boxes, but I am about helping you to solve problems with a variety of
technologies.
My background is mainly Unix, and I have many years of experience in the
administration, upgrading and support of just about every flavour along with the
Linux styles as well. I have worked on projects involving programming, scripting
and building systems using SAN technologies along with virtual environments such
as VMWARE.
Alongside of that I have experience in networks and security including
everything Telco, firewalls, routers. I have also been involved in a number of
Microsoft projects and have been known to write some .NET code, as well as
installing and supporting the old favourites such as Exchange2007, Active
Directory and SQL-Server.
So, if you need support, upgrading, trouble-shooting, or have a project that
needs technical resourcing I can help you.
Some examples of work I have done are:
1. System performance reviews/installation/support
2. Security reviews
3. Vetting third party work
4. Upgrading systems
5. Network reviews/installation/support
6. Providing temporary support while new staff members are found
7. Just someone to bounce design ideas.
8. Fixing Linux builds and free software compatibilty problems. For example
mail, virus scanning, mysql etc.
9. Database analysis and optimisation - I am certified with Oracle, and a dab
hand with mysql
Get in touch anytime on 0419 222 201, or email me paulk@itknowhow.com.au , or via linkedin. In the menu, I have
included a list of my main skills, and also a bit of history about some of the
projects I have done, and some of the
companies I have worked with.
I will guarantee any work I have done. If you are not happy because of
something I have done outside the agreed specfications, then the work is free. I
am looking for happy customers, as I have done so for many years.
